FAQs

  • What should I wear?

Comfortable loose clothing is fine, something you can move freely in and which will not cut in at the waist or ankles... We usually practice in bare feet, too (unless it is very cold when we are sitting!)

  • Do I need to bring anything?

Bring a  yoga mat if you have one and a warm blanket which you can use to support you in some poses and for relaxation at the end.

  • I don't have a mat, can I still come along?

There are always a few spare mats to borrow.  Most people prefer to buy their own mats once they start coming to class regularly.

  • I've never done yoga before, can I still come to any class?

Everyone is welcome in the class, beginners or those with experience.  We work gradually into each pose so that everybody can find their own place.  Yoga is not competetive, so everyone is encouraged to work to their own ability.

  • What style of yoga is it?

Karen's teaching reflects her daily personal practice of asana, pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation. She teaches a gentle yet demanding form of yoga, working with the natural alignment of the body and paying attention to the breath. Her style of yoga works to improve the health and length of the spine through releasing tension; releasing into postures, rather than forcing them.

  • Can I drop in for a class?

The lessons are ongoing so you can come along as often as you are able.  Remember, the more regular your practice, the more benefits you are likely to feel from yoga.

  • How do I pay?

You can either pay per class or buy a set of 6 classes, which don't have to be consecutive.  The 6-class passes can be paid for in cash or you can send the money via bank transfer, just contact me for details.

  • Can I take a private lesson?

Absolutely. Private sessions take place in Karen's home studio, please ask for more information or to set up an appointment.  Should you need to cancel, please note that cancellations within 24 hours of the class will be charged at the full rate.
